Special Music Scores 1904-1918 - Studien zur frühen Filmmusik/Studies in Early Film Music

Mit über 150 erhaltenen und weit mehr als doppelt so vielen verlorenen Drucken bis 1918 ist die Anzahl und die Bedeutung von Drucken komponierter und kompilierter Musik zu einzelnen Filmen weitaus höher als bisher angenommen. In den sechs hier vorgelegten Studien werden grundlegende Fragen der Synchronisation von Musik und Film sowie einzelne Filmmusikkulturen thematisiert - Voraussetzungen für eine Geschichte der frühen Filmmusik unter angemessener Berücksichtigung der Musik zu einzelnen Filmen.

With more than 150 surviving prints and far more than twice as many lost scores up to 1918, the number and importance of composed and compiled music scores for individual films is far greater than previously thought. The six studies presented in this volume deal with fundamental questions of the synchronization of music and film as well as with individual film music cultures - prerequisites for a history of early film music that takes appropriate account of the scores for individual films.
